Services

Piano Tuning - $100
Using a mix of electronic and aural tuning methods, a precise and stable tuning to the desired pitch will be established. Tuning appointments typically take 1.5-2 hours and can be pretty noisy.

NOTE: an additional $30 fee will be charged if a pitch correction is necessary (see below).

Piano Repair - $50/hr
During every piano tuning appointment, I will address any basic repairs required to tune the instrument. More elaborate repairs that take extra time or new parts will run at a cost. If it is not time for a tuning, yet an issue arises, reach out to schedule a service call.

Piano Cleaning - $50/hr
After removing the action and all the keys from the instrument, watch as the sea of dust disappears from the depths! Key's will be wiped down, and metal components will be polished. Cleanings can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on the type of piano and level of cleanliness desired.
FAQ
What is a Pitch Correction?
With seasonal weather changes, wooden components in your instrument expand and contract. As these components exist in a dynamic state, strings will fall flat and go sharp periodically throughout the year.

If the strings on your instrument are significantly off pitch, they will need to be stretched out before achieving a precise and stable tuning. An extra pass, or a pitch correction, prior to the fine tuning of the piano aids in the stabilization greatly. In severe cases, a return visit may be necessary.

Is a pitch correction necessary?

A pitch correction is necessary before any fine tuning when the frequencies are either sharp or flat by 8 cents or more. The initial steps during a tuning appointment will establish if this is the case. NOTE: depending on the severity, increased time and cost should be expected. Return visits may be necessary.

How often should I have my piano tuned?

Depending on how often you play your instrument, this can vary. Most people will have it tuned once or twice a year, but some may choose to have quarterly appointments if it gets a lot of play time. I would not recommend letting your piano go more than a year without tuning as the strings will need to be stretched back out and the tuning pins re-stabilized (pitch correction).

What type of piano do I own?

There are two main types of modern day pianos, upright and grand. The size of an upright piano is smaller than that of a grand, and the orientation of the strings is the main distinction. Upright pianos typically sit up against a wall and will have strings running vertically, parallel with the wall. Grand pianos have more of a table like appearance, with the strings running horizontally, or parallel to the ground.

Why should I have my piano cleaned?

Unless regularly maintained, nearly every piano has an unbelievable amount of dust hidden within the cabinet walls, under the keys, across the soundboard, and intertwined within the strings. As dust builds, the mechanical components can get bogged down and the sound board resonation may be dampened. A nice, clean instrument will only further the enjoyment you get out of it!

Will you move my piano?

As of now, we can only accommodate piano moves with VERY simple logistics. Please reach out for more information.
